Su and Hao’s story started with a swipe and a little humor. At the time, Hao was studying in Maryland while Su was in Philadelphia. The distance didn’t exactly make sense.
Hao’s very first message was, “Sue far away.” A simple pun, but it broke the ice.
That joke turned into a conversation, and the conversation turned into something neither of them expected. What began miles apart slowly became a shared path forward.
That joke turned into a conversation. The conversation turned into a first meet up in Philly. And somehow, what started as something casual became something real.
For years, their relationship stretched across cities from Philadelphia to New York to Boston following Su’s studies and new chapters. It wasn’t always easy, but they kept choosing each other.
What began with distance became a commitment. And now, they’re finally in the same place ready to begin the next chapter together.

He proposed to Su on a beach in Phuket, Thailand, surrounded by thoughtful decorations and with Su’s parents there to witness the moment. It was intimate, meaningful, and the perfect way to begin this next chapter together.

We’re most excited about having all of our closest family and friends in one place, celebrating together. Since Su’s parents are unable to attend, it means even more to her to be surrounded by the people who have supported and loved her throughout the years. Being able to share this moment with everyone we care about is what makes the day truly special.
